MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: Greetings everyone. I hope the summer is treating you well. The Executive Committee has been very busy over the past number of weeks dealing with several issues relating to the survival of our Legion. With the amount of salaries being paid and the forthcoming increase in wages beginning in October, the Finance Committee determined that we could not continue to exist financially over the next few months. A recommendation was made to the Executive that we close the Lounge Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning the 31th of July. The Lounge will remain open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays as usual. On a much brighter note, we have just received an email from Mediaplusadvertising, with the authorization of Command, wanting to produce a television commercial encouraging Canadians to pause to remember veterans on November 11 this year. They chose Renfrew’s Cenotaph as the location to do this filming, as it was decided to be the nicest for what they want. There is more information in the “From the Office” section of this newsletter. This will put our Legion on the map for many years to come. More information will be forthcoming via all social media outlets. So stay tuned and have a good rest of the summer.
